There exists a bug with weighting and assessing, though rare, which provides a great deal of potential for someone to get ripped off.
Negative weighting does not show up as being diminished in a playershop, it infact shows up as this:
Looking closely at the tiny dart, you see that it will cost 250000 coins.
It is substantially weighted to inflict more critical blows.
You can PULL the tiny dart to remove it from the inventory.
When in reality the assess messaging is this:
"It looks like it is less effective than a normal weapon of its type, resulting in it being substantially diminished in its ability to inflict critical wounds."

tap claid |
You tap an ancient eagle-hilted claidhmore in a gold-leafed mistwood cabinet. |
inspect claid |
You carefully inspect an ancient eagle-hilted claidhmore. |
After a careful inspection you determine that an ancient eagle-hilted claidhmore requires skill in twohanded weapons to use effectively. |
It looks like this item has been mainly crafted out of steel. |
get claidhmore |
Looking closely at the eagle-hilted claidhmore, you see that it will cost 50000 coins. |
It imparts no bonus more than usual. |
>It is not weighted to inflict more critical blows. |
Bought it out of curiosity and had it sung to...
As you sing, you feel a faint resonating vibration from the eagle-hilted claidhmore in your hand... |
The harmonics generated tell you that the claidhmore inflicts more fearsome wounds when it strikes. |
