Been gone for Eight Years, apparently I owe 98 months in guild dues and just got kicked out. Do I have to just suck it up and pay it or are there other options? My brain hurts trying to relearn.

Wait until the guild actually kicks you out, then get re-instated.

You pay the joining fee (15k in silver) to a player or NPC guildmaster and rejoin.

If you were a master it would have been best to check in before getting kicked out, since 98*0=0, but you have to move fast to do that if you've been out of the game a long time.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. dues are 120+ months past due. I was able to recover my secret knock to get in but that's about it. Does waiting to be kicked out and re-invited mean all the skills will be lost? if so I really don't think that's a reasonable option. I put a lot of work into these skills so long ago, if my 'welcome back' gift is to lose it all then no thank you.

I believe you get everything back...but being a ranger, with no working guild (hint hint) I'm not certain.

You keep your ranks but you lose guildmaster status if you had it. If you are a guildmaster you should just check in since you have no fees to pay.

I was a guildmaster. When I reactivated my account (after 10+ years.. ) I got the message that I was behind with my dues. Once I was able to get back through the door I tried to check in but get the message that I need to be a member to do that. Does this mean I will need a player guildmaster to re-invite? If so anyone be available to help around 6-7pm Eastern? While I'm at it since I will also need another 5 guild masters to re-nominate, anyone that can help with that?

That means you've been kicked out and need to rejoin (which you can do with the NPC or a player provided you have the 15k in silvers on you). You'll just need 2 (reduced from the 5 it used to be) players to nominate, plus a third (or the NPC) to promote you back to guildmaster.

Thank you for that info. How does one go about rejoining with an NPC? It's been over a decade but I seem to remember a runner or something giving me a note instructing to visit initially.

You find him (you'll need your password to get into the guild, if you don't have a working password you will need a PC) and ask the appropriate question, which I think is
