What are people's thoughts on the order in which to learn spells?
At level 44 I have the following:
Minor Spirit.......................| 7
Ranger.............................| 35
Am ready to learn three more and need to decide where to go next!

Every society gives some form of travel, so that's usually enough. I went to 606, 103, 618, 107, 640, 120, 650, 140, and 6100+, personally.

Sounds reasonable. I was thinking of going to 130 before 650, since I like to do the odd rescue. I am looking forward to 650 though, in spite of its shortcomings. Seems like a really unique and interesting spell.

I've been debating getting up to 130. I'll eval that when the next time we can change skills for free. Pup is built as a true semi (even built swinging a sword and casting spells) so I do have to get as much as I can out of each swing and spell. I dont really see anything past 120 that will help compare to overtrainning in ranger spells.

The caster receives a bonus of +15 to Defense Strength (Melee, Ranged, and Bolt DS), +1 for every two Minor Spiritual spell ranks known beyond 20.
125 is nice to have. Zapping your boxes except for mithril, enruned or glyph boxes.
130 is a good rescue spell. If you are with a group during an invasion it is a good spell to help the group escape especially if it is losing the edge in combat.
140 is situational.
My ranger went 640 first then to 130... He will get 650 at level 80 and 140 at level 90.. then back to ranger till cap.
