Its been a few years since I've played, and I forgot all my account info, so I just started from scratch. Sarchasm was born.
Currently lvl 6 and am having issues with gear. The lands aren't near as populated as I remember, and I can't seem to find anyone selling low level gear. Mainly looking for a 2x runestaff and a supply of wands. I use to rub an amulet and there were people selling them all the time. Where's a good place to look?
Also I could use recommendation on hunting grounds. I'm thinking of heading to Icemule to blood burst cocktrices spiders and Snow cats. Lesser Burrow Orcs in the Landing were too hard to hit.

Ahem; ok bloodbursting stuff and sitting around in defensive while they bleed to death should work. You don't need to up hunt or even hunt same level; if you underhunt all it means is that you need to kill a couple more of them to fry. If you have trouble warding burrow orcs, go kill some hobgoblins; they tend to swarm in the village. Heck, even kobolds should work for another level or two; go kill them and rabid squirrels in the kobold village.
A 2x runestaff? Why bother with the expense? You will outgrow it in a few levels anyway. Save your silvers for when you can buy a 4x off the shelf. If you really MUST have a 2x right away, you can buy it off the shelf at Tykels (I forget what wood is 2x but you can look it up I am sure).
Wands; other than the pawnshop there is nothing great; try looking of the marketplace forums and advertising to buy some wands. Train in spell aiming so you can use wizard wands as well.

welcome back. A good place to look for low level enchants and wands is the back room of the pawnshop (available in all towns). Look for staves on the weapon table, and wands on the magic/arcane table.
The amulet sales channel is pretty much dead. You'll find more sales on the PC (http://forum.gsplayers.com) or in Playershops (http://www.virilneus.com/shops/ or http://shops.lichproject.org/).
Icemule is a good place for new characters, especially if you play during primetime. Otherwise it can be difficult to find non-NPC services.

1. Check out the Adventure Guild. It provides not only an extra source of silver, but a large boost to your experience.

3. Make good use of your first 30 days. You can instantly change your training an unlimited number of times during that period and can change your stats 5 times.
4. Rats can be a quick and easy fry even at levels 5-7. Refer to number 3. You don't have to cast at those low levels. Train a weapon and just poke little stuff to death for now.
5. With a weapon you can fry quickly hunting cave gnolls/gnomes and they have ok treasure.

I know aura and wisdom are prime stats but drop them back a bit before 30 days are up to give them room to grow. Beef up Dexterity; any bonus to this stat is added directly to Bolt spell AS. (You will almost certainly be using bolt spells for at least some portion of your career). You will probably want some more strength as well, to avoid being encumbered when carrying junk around later on; being encumbered makes you more vulnerable to maneuver attacks.
