Ok, someone tell me why a sorcerer is forced to learn the most boring of guild skills like alchemy in order to advance in illusions, I can understand that being the case with the alchemy guild skills, but not with illusions when alchemy isnt even tied to our illusions. So, why on earth are we forced to learn alchemy also? Someone explain the crazy reasoning behind this?

Diversification.

Its poorly implemented as is for Sorcerers, but its a universal element of Guild skills. For every 4 ranks of one skill, at least 1 rank in another. Same way for Rogues and Warriors. That it offers Sorcerers a UNIQUE additional hoop to jump through (You need 15 ranks of Alchemy to illusion your demons! Wow, that sounds REALLY, REALLY STUPID when I say it like that) is just one of the fifty ways our profession is screwed.

However, I will let this one slide because at least we have a non-alchemy guild skill, while the other three pures do not. It is a negative downside to one of the very, very few professional advantages we have. When Clerics learn their Orisons, they will have to do the SAME thing. Whats that? You want to master religious rites and ceremonies to do a group raise? Learn 15 ranks of Alchemy, sucka. So its really not just us, its just us NOW, and one day, everyone will suffer from it.

Same reason neither sorcerers doing illusions or rogues working on LM are able to avoid audience reps that make absolutely no sense at all. The guild system is apparently very rigidly constructed. It was designed with a certain scope of skills to be implemented and worked for that, but it forced future guild additions into the same mold regardless of the fit.

it's like a fraternity...you have to do humiliating things for very little benefit.
