I have found many wands in boxes and searching critters but they are always wands from the existing spell system.
Any chance blank random wands & rods will be implemented?
Or are they and I just have incredible bad luck?
Thanks
Kaldaris

I would like it if any blank wands/rods added to the treasure system were, you know, actually special in their abilities.
Like (in no particular order of desirability):
- Able to be imbedded based on CHARGES rather than on MANA. So rather than capping out at 4 charges of a 15-mana spell, one material might be the "5 charges" one, one material might be the "10 charges" one, and so on. Distinct materials for each tier of charges.
- Able to be imbedded based on REALM. Materials attuned to that Realm could have more charges of those spells than normal (perhaps double the "normal" mana limit?).
- Able to imbed not-normal spells. Perhaps one material is more in tune to Elemental, so you can use it either as a normal imbeddable with no changes, OR you can imbed <some limited number, maybe 2 or 3 max?> charges of a spell not normally imbeddable from that particular Realm. Distinct materials for each Realm. Possibly in combination with above (base material of wand == Realm + inlay == charging tier == "an ora-inlaid fireleaf rod").
- Adding material bonuses. "Fire"leaf wands give +10 to any fire-based attack imbedded in them: Minor Fire, Major Fire, Immolate, Fire Spirit. "Hoar"beam rods give +10 to any cold-based attack imbedded in them. Et cetera. Including potentially CS bonuses...
- Never-fail recharge (limited number of times). NO possibility of destroying the item nor failing to fill it up completely, BUT you can only recharge it some fixed number of times. Perhaps three tiers of this, at 2/4/6 recharges.
- <Some combination with Alchemy.> Maybe it's a "living wand" and you have to dowse it in Major Healing potion thingies. (I haven't done anything with Alchemy, so I've no idea what-all can be created.)
.
Et cetera. Be creative.

Is recharging so bad that an item you could charge only 6 times would be a worthwhile thing people would seek out?

Not that I have anything to do with this system, blank imbeds appear in the treasure system. Rods, wands, and batons are just a few to name a few that I've seen.

"Is recharging so bad that an item you could charge only 6 times would be a worthwhile thing people would seek out?"
The possibility exists to destroy the item or to render it unable to be recharged further.
So, "Yes."
.
.
Particularly if it were combined with some of the other attributes that I described, such as 'being able to take a spell not normally imbeddable' or 'fill it by number of charges rather than amount of mana'. (Things like putting in 40 charges of a 16-mana spell are desirable. Being able to then recharge that item 6 times without fail? Nice.)

I must have terrible luck then. I have found a few batons but never a blank 'Wand' or 'Rod'.
Guess the Rangers will keep getting my business for Rods.
Thank you!
