You search the xxxxx.
It had a long-hafted feras maul.
You discard the xxxxx's remaining useless equipment.
It had 96 silvers on it.
You gather the remaining 96 coins.
It had nothing else of value.
xxxxxxx decays into compost.

Are feras back on the random treasure generation lists? The loss of them when it was last updated was really my only complaint about the whole system (except the dropping veil iron bit).

Pulled another, this time a non-standard drake.

Are you killing trolls invading Wehnimer's? Those have had some feras and other metal weapons that go poof like normal critter weapons.

Nope, both were non-invasion creatures and the items didn't go poof (not even in the landing). I still have both on hand. I also saw two like them in the pawnshops.

I've been picking up feras weapons for a while. . . I want to say at least two months.

Just picked up a feras hammer today, in fact.

Not the standard feras (a feras dagger, a feras hammer, a feras rapier) but weapons made from the random generator (IE a scratched feras backsword, a vultite-edged feras longsword, an orange feras pilum). Ones that come in other bases.

I'm not sure if those were randomly created or not, but I did add a lot of feras items to the weapon feeders awhile back. Not to burst any bubbles.

Wyrom, would those have come out being wielded by creatures, or in boxes as boxfounds?

Just feras though? Because I pulled a drake as well.

a long-hafted feras maul was the feras, pawned the drake.

Weapons almost always generate in the creature's hand, whether GM created or randomly made.

Feras weapons are not currently being generated by the system, aside from the standard ones (feras daggers, etc.) as already pointed out. If you find an unusual one, it was probably hand-created by a staff member and put into the feeders. Drake weapons are in the normal generator mix.

The lack of feras in the generator is more of an oversight than anything else. It was somehow omitted when the old system was given an extensive overhaul, rather than purposefully removed. I'm looking into putting it back in as a valid material.

Can something similar be done like this for for shields down the road?

I've gotten a number of shields that were genned with critters, all in Nelemar.

Glad to hear this is possible. I've hunted Nelemar for several? (maybe more) years now and while I have found a substantial number of interesting weapons and runestaves I don't recall having found a single unusual shield.

Which creatures in Nelemar are you finding genned shields on?

I think two things are being confused here. There are GM created items. And there are randomly created ones. GM created weapons should almost ALWAYS be in the creature's hand. Everything else GM made will be in a box. Randomly created weapons and items can be on a creature or in a box.

Thanks for the response Wyrom! So for clarity in my request, can we have something implemented down the road such that critters spawn with unusual/interesting shield in hand with more frequency than they do today? Not sure if this means that GMs need to create shields with more frequency for the treasure hopper or if a hopper needs to be added for shields or what. Simply would like to have an opportunity to face some critters with unique/unusual shields in hand with more frequency than I do today (my personal experience being that this doesn't happen at all today).

Thanks!

GM made shields would never generate on a spawned creature normally. It's out of my scope for anything like that to happen.

I have found a few shields, all the ones I know were GM created came in a box. I agree that would be neat to see a critter holding something with a fancier description.

I've found random generator ones in boxes too and a few random generated critters with a shield in hand. I say random cause they didn't have anything to the look or scripts. Some were Sanct', flared, enhancive, or spiked but none had a GM's touch as to the look or any actions/scripts attached to them.

Basically just saying it happens, they do gen with nicer then normal gen shields on occasions. Granted it seems more rare then weapon gens, but that just might be luck of the draw there from my perspective.

In all my years of hunting, I've found 2 shields carried by critters. Countless weapons, but only 2 shields. Would be nice for that rate to be increased a little bit.

You know.... I thought.... That was a given.

Then again I make it a habit to mainly hunt critters that carry a weapon and shield, and drop boxes.

Shields generate daily in the hands of creatures. Weapons are more common because most everything is carrying a weapon. But shields require the creature to normally generate with a shield. If they don't, they won't ever generate with a shield.

Your personal fame is 298089094.

I've killed hundreds of thousands of creatures. Yes, the last few years have been spent mainly in the Scatter with no shield users, but I've killed thousands of Grimswarm during that time as well. Only 2 shields. Just saying.

Grimswarm are evil. The one time I had one spawn with an item another picked it up after I killed it and ran off never to be seen again.

Then I must amend my original point, since at least one of the two shields I found were on Grimswarm: In a decade of hunting, I have found only one shield held by a creature. Maybe zero.

Just saying.
