New to guild, a few questions. on 06/08/2013 09:15 AM CDT

Hello all, just a few minor questions (for now).

I just finished training in berserk and klidel tells me to go get promoted, but when I go to Bert he tells me I don't have enough points to get promoted in batter. Do I have to specify what skill I want to be promoted in?

Secondly, what type of weapon is best for batter, if any? I saw a massive glaes club in pawnshop and thought that would be great, but when I try to use it I'm told it's not suitable.

Finally, any thoughts on a training regimen (what skills to train first) would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Grim

The guild masters are stupid when it comes to working out which skill you are asking to get promoted in. You have to type it out for them if the link doesn't work.

ASK BERT ABOUT NEXT BERSERK

The heavier the weapon the better. The Landing guild has a shop in it that sells extra heavy bashing clubs.

My priority is
Berserk and tricks (for feint)
Warcries
Tackle

A rank of batter early for the GY gate. Otherwise fit it in as and when opportunity presents. Soul golems are an excellent opportunity.

Disarm is useful, but unlike the other skills, I find modest ranks in it sufficient.
If you use THW, you will probably have tackle higher up the list. With blunt/shield its at the bottom of mine, the shield based knockdowns are better.

For guild training ranks, I believe you need to know how to wield the weapon being used.

To actually bash in practice, you can use that heavy club (even if not trained in the weapon type).

My feeling on what skills to train and when is of the old school.

I firmly believe in training all the skills that require critter reps first, then do bash and tricks last.

It's much, MUCH harder to be practicing tackle or disarm on the high level critters with insta-death moves and skills than it is against some slowpoke hill troll.

Further, a lot of high level critters are casters and animals and don't even use weapons.

So my personal preference is:

warcries up to 10-15 (To reliably stall critters)
Tackle
Finish warcries
Disarm
Berserk
Tricks
Bash

Bandits work fine.

You can do creature reps on things that are 10 levels lower and at cap creatures who are 15 lower work, so it isn't like they have to be anything particularly dangerous to you either.

So, where and when are the best places to find guild members to help with tackle, disarm, and warcry reps? The guild in the landing seems pretty empty most of the time. Thanks.

I've also been told Icemule is a good place to go for warrior training. That said, there are a few warriors around Rivers Rest (mine included) that don't mind helping out as well. If you have FWI access you can also send a shout out on the LNet and probably meet someone there for a few sparring lessons.

I may visit the Landing to join in for that! What time does it usually start?

I'd suggest the Landing. You will need the crows for audience reps, depending on what you are doing.
