Back in the day we used to have scroll combiners come about every now and then. Tk still has a ton of his special scrolls with combined spells/charges. Can we bring that back please?

In the vair-lined bandolier you see an elegant vellum roll, some torn runes, some preserved modwir leaves and the following:
95 Scroll: a scorched scroll (2), an onyx-edged gold leaf scroll, a faded scroll (3), an aged scroll (6), a torn scroll (2), a dark russet scroll (2), a golden scroll, a light scroll (6), a blackened scroll, a burnt scroll (6), an obscure scroll (7), a faded palimpsest, an arcane scroll, a glowing scroll, a sheaf of yellowed paper (2), a luminous scroll, a piece of silvery paper, a sheaf of neatly inked paper, a crumpled scroll, a white scroll (2), a faded parchment, a leaf-pressed pale green scroll, a charred scroll (4), a sheet of old vellum, a Vvrael skin scroll, a finely-scripted scroll, a smeared scroll (6), a tattered scroll (4), a sheaf of faded paper, a sigil covered leathery parchment, a piece of charred paper, a piece of burnt paper, a grey scroll (2), a green scroll, a nubby silk-threaded scroll, a grey and silver-edged scroll, a faded blue scroll, an old scroll (2), a purple scroll, a pink scroll, a piece of obscure paper, a silvery scroll, a scrap of resplendent papyrus, a sheet of illuminated vellum, a pure white scroll, a copper-etched parchment, a piece of dark paper, a sheet of dark vellum, a sheaf of smeared paper, a piece of shimmering paper, a sheet of arcane vellum, a silver embossed scroll, an illuminated scroll and a yellowed scroll.
1 Wand: a dusty rose rod.
1 Book: a small leather-bound tome.
(100 Total)

<cough> please? :)

It's a very slow service. I consider myself a faster merchant, but scroll combining can take a lot of time. That doesn't mean you won't see it anytime soon. Just giving you a reason why you don't see it often.

The one and only time I had it done, at the Winterfest in Icemule, I don't recall it taking super long. At least not longer than Joola items.

I think Joola items are the current champion for slowest service.

Scroll combining require approvals. So outside that, it's a taxing service to a GM who doesn't fully get the scroll system. There are no clear cut instructions like a Joola item. There are factors to look at with each scroll. The charges on scrolls aren't handled the same way as a magic item, so it tends to be confusing.

In the time I've been a GM, I've offered the service 5 times. It never got a whole lot of interest when I did it at EG, and I stopped doing it in 2011 (but I've done it a few times in Platinum since). I will remind staff around EG that it's something someone should try.

Understood! Maybe I'll just sell most of them then. I remember it taking a while.

Wasn't there a scroll combining item created and auctioned though? I remember Lavi (rest her soul) winning it when we were actively playing together maybe 8 years ago?

Best,

There are a few out there for sure. I think some went out at DMC? I forget.

To my knowledge... there's two kinds.

There's the literal scroll combiners... which are pretty old and a lot more powerful. I don't know much about these.

Then there's the scroll-combining portfolios that went out at DMC. (I think they originated at some auction?) Those pull charges from scrolls to fill the two pages in the portfolio, holding a max of 10 spells. There's a few of these floating around. I have one. I couldn't say where the others are.
