Hello, fellow clerics! The TownCrier and I are are taking a two-part survey about your opinions on the state of the cleric profession, which we'll collect, summarize, and pass along to dev GMs as feedback as well as post here.
Today we're releasing Cleric Survey A, which is intended to get an overview of your overall impressions of cleric design and spell design.
Next week we'll be releasing the more comprehensive Cleric Survey B, which will be about the choices you've made for your specific cleric, such as training paths, lore split, society, and more. After that survey has been available for four weeks, the results of both will be posted here.
If all goes smoothly, we'd also love to support efforts for collecting feedback on other professions in the future. (Those would be headed up by someone else.) And accordingly, since this is hopefully the first of several such surveys, we welcome constructive criticism for improving others in the future.
If all this sounds interesting to you, feel free to take the survey at the link below--and please remember that all questions except your character name are optional!

>What sort of response do you want from someone who has multiple clerics (I have 6, all currently inactive)
Oh, interesting question. For Survey A I'd just say either talk about the cleric who matters most to you (the one you have the most invested in or the most fun with) or about your experience in the aggregate. Most of the fields should allow a lot of text, so I think with a question like "What level range have you played him or her through?" you could even include the level ranges for all of them if you wanted.
It's a more important question for Survey B since that's about your specific training choices, so before that releases next Friday, I'll see if I can rework it to account for someone with multiple clerics of different builds. (Now I'm very glad I delayed it--for as many times as Darcena and I went back and forth over the questions, I figured we'd still miss something and I should leave leeway to see what happens with the first survey.)
Eight responses so far, keep 'em coming! Love seeing so much interest within less than a day!

Survey B is now available here! http://bit.ly/2Hx18Zs
This is the second and last part of the two-part survey, mostly asking "why" questions like why you made your cleric and why you train the skills you do. It'll be available for at least two weeks, but could be extended depending on how responses slow down or not.
Please note: Even if you didn't answer Survey A, your responses to Survey B are still welcome! I fully expect that some people will fill out only one or the other. Of the two, I also expect that B will take much less time to fill out for most people.
Meanwhile, Survey A will remain open for two more weeks itself if any are still looking for time to fill it out. Closing in on 50 responses! http://bit.ly/2Uoh2sH

We have, respectively, over 50 and over 40 responses to the surveys!
Current plan: almost eight days left to fill them out since I intend to go through with posting the results late Friday night, the 29th. Subject to change if several last minute responses start coming in and/or it just takes me longer to organize the data than expected.

Proudly presenting: the 10-part results summary of the TownCrier cleric survey!

Get your popcorn or dinner ready, because it's a long one--and well worth every second of your time. Surprise, laughter, heartbreak, raised eyebrows, rubbed chins, and more await you!
On behalf of the TownCrier team, and speaking personally too, thank you once more to all who participated in either or both surveys. We hope to hear from some of you multi-character players again on a survey for the next profession in line, tentatively starting within the next 2-3 months as long as interested parties follow through.

HeHe! I was quoted twice!
Anyway, good job on this project, LEAFIARA, can't wait for the next one.... as long as it's not one of the few professions I don't play.

The next three surveys planned are rangers, empaths, and hunting grounds. This may occur in any order. Timeline is about one every two to three months to allow us to ensure the questions are thoughtful, representative, and helpful, to gather the data, and then to analyze it for qualitative themes and best present it to GMs and players alike.

The cleric feedback was a very good read / good information. I am wishing we had taken a similar approach for Wizards (not that we couldn't do this now, I just don't have the desire to initiate this myself).

Re: TownCrier Cleric Survey on 03/31/2019 08:50 PM CDT
We do plan to cycle through all the professions as well as touching upon other topics. We just plan on taking 2-3 months between surveys so that we have enough time to make sure they are: helpful, valid, systematic, unbiased, organized, and well-reasoned in construction; spaced to ensure people are not burnt out wherein feedback becomes less effective; analyzed and interpreted logically, with patience, and thematically to be most useful and productive for players and Gms alike.

Oh. And representative. That's important too. :D

I noticed an error on page 8 where I attributed the fourth comment to the author of the fifth and vice versa. Fixed that and then double-checked every other comment on every page to make sure they're fine, which they were.
Since I was going through them anyway, I looked into this fun statistic:
* 40 unique players were quoted in the article (or 42 if you also include comments that didn't get big colorful boxes but did get smaller passing mentions)
* The average number of quotes was 3.9 times per person
* The mean number of quotes was 3 per person
