Ok so I don't know if this has been mentioned elsewhere (oh yes I did look). But since it involves TM here it goes.
There are two spells that these changes could really impact. One being Lightning Bolt and the other being Burn. Now just speaking from the nature of things over here in plat, I know several moon mages that have insanely high TM and this correspondingly causes their burn spells to be devestating in effect. Removing the TM component would neuter them... As a WM I am suprised to find something not affecting me for once though... but I thought I'd mention it as some are more than irritated over there.
As for lightning bolt I know it is a hybrid spell, and am not sure what your plans are for it. I am just beginning to hit a point where I can use it effectively. Early on, much like burn, its a bit random with the damage and hitting. Later on it mimics burn in its ability to instantly kill something with enough mana. Changes to the TM portion of this might really change how we view it as a spell.
I am always patient to wait and see exactly what is going to happen before complaining about it. Things might take more turns I realize before they happen. In the end I think you wanted Magic Tertiary guilds, such as Rangers, no need for TM. A side effect could be to give all magic primary guilds a downtweak. Most rangers I know here in plat really have next to no TM and their SvA spells are more than powerful enough...
What are some other peoples' thoughts on this? I don't claim to know all the ins and outs of spells, but see these two as possible issues in the future. Thanks!

umm i thought Burn and LB were psudo-target spells and not SvA spells. they have the TM componet swaped from regulat TM spells (PM to hit TM to damage)

Yeah,,,ol ice patch.. I have it ...but really only use it occasionally (Find vertigo/frb more effective versus baddies) I guess I was more worried about these two TM Teaching, and devestating damage spells. Who knows, maybe ice patch will get back some of it's old breaking necks kick. I always thought the TM component was holding it back :grins: I use it, its reasonably effective now for me. Really though I hadn't considered it much. I guess it has the possbility of nerfing us... Why not just remove the TM component from the darn tert guilds and leave us primary ones alone? They could have SvA spells follow the same scale with regards to agility as the tert guild's,,, cept we have TM as a BONUS to their effectiveness.
The whole point is in making TM a GOOD thing to have. Right now its such a drag having it. Without getting too GvG, I know of too many tert magic guilds' spells that seem a bit overpowered  Its kind of funny too how I can chuck a throwing hammer, shoot a bow, or launch a cambrinth orb at someone and land a SOLID hit most all of the time.... and miss with a fully targeted aether lance - with 120TM and 70s in the other skills :/ Alas I am brancing from my initial point...
In the end I think because we have PvP balance is very hard to do. Monsters follow a different set of rules than players, so there are these inconsistancies. Their stats are different than player stats. I hope in time they can be worked out. My point was to just bring to attention how it might affect these two hybrid spells, and the possible problems we might see as a result. If they indeed won't be affected than I guess we have nothing to discuss :P

i agree, it is lame that magic tert guilds do not need to train TM yet still get physical attack spells. as a MM, i need to train TM as a weapon to use my combative spells, where as a ranger won't need to train TM to use a combative spell. now, unless there is some passive bonus to a spell needing TM in a spell, but what it seems like is spells that are stat based are more powerfull then TM based spells (specificaly SvA). i'm not sure how this will play out, should be interesting.

Heck no, that would ruin my destruction of the guild. I'll be aiming for the trash that everyone throws out.

IRL if i'm fighting a narcoleptic and they fall asleep midway through. The fight is over.
