New problem with critters well bellow your circle, easily retreating from you now... without you even seeming to have the chance to 'move along with them', they just retreat and run away.... and rather quickly too :(
And very very rarly able to grapple a critter anymore very very rare, to the point that to be able to grapple, seems to now be an anomily :( ... no matter that ranks dictate that you are well about a critters skill level (as determined through asses critter, and the fact that they are in hunting grounds that you are well above...
Are these new problems arising due to other, connected systems ? If so, is there any priority to get them sorted out... to where they work....like they use to...and had worked for many years, prior to the multitude of changes being made ?

Critter retreating is intended, I think. I forget the big reasons to be honest, but the change hasn't bothered me much.
Non-damaging brawling maneuvers (circle, weave, bob, shove, grab, and tackle) have all been broken for some time now. You can use them on things that are at-level well enough, but anything too low experiences some sort of bug where your chance of success is zero.
The prevailing theory on this seems to be that your chance of success gets too high and wraps around into a negative number... or something like that anyway.
D: So does your wife have any special powers?
M: Yes! Once a month, she becomes eeevil... and I cannot defeat her!

Aye...I understand the brawling one.. its been, not working for ages now.. and Know critters are suppose to be able to retreat, yet we use to sometimes move with them, so they could not retreat all the time... now.. a kelpie can easily retreat and run away with my arrows or daggers stuck in em... seemingly with no chance to 'move with the' anymore :(

There are two forms of critter retreat. The first and older version is called the "OH HELL!" retreat, and usually happens because you or the situation you are in outclasses the critter by a large margin. Sometimes they'll just retreat, sometimes they will bolt in fear. In both cases, there's a stat or skillcheck to see if you maintain the distance instead of letting them get away. The second and newer version is the "quit wasting my time" retreat, and it doesn't have any sort of check to it (that a player can succeed at, at least). It is designed strictly to free up critters from people dancing with them so that nobody ever goes to a hunting ground and can't find a critter to hunt for over two hours.

oh..didnt realize it was meant to work that way...use to be, critters of way less skill then a hunter, would be hard-pressed to be Able to retreat...but it sorrrrrta makes sense that they do that now, so the critters can go find a hunter of thier own level/skills levels, so that hunter can get the benifit of killing them and gaining skills for such... sorta makes sense.. ~shrugs~
Just hope grappling is fixed soon though..use to be nice to take a younger char into a place they could not hunt alone, and hold down a critter as they bashed it to death :P

>Yes, grappling does need to be fixed. Not sure how high it is on the "to do" list, but it's been on there for quite some time.
Last I heard, it's a notch above the skinning rewrite, so expect it next week.
