This makes me sad.

The fact that it is possible to make a weapon that is LIGHTER, MORE BALANCED, and 2 steps higher in damage rating than a capped LE katar kind of sucks. Ohh but that isn't the end of it--there is also the fact that it also has the potential to have basically the exact same minimum RT as a capped LE katar.

The effective strength for the scimitar is 30, and for a capped katar it is 29(assuming the katar weighs 38 stones).

I really hope things change in favor of Light Edge weapons once dual wield and the new forging rewrite takes place.

You are right; however, even with rare metals you cannot increase the max damage of a katar. The fact of the matter is, a capped katar is pretty much a capped katar, rare metal or not.
