Flee saves the day!

You try to sneak out of combat, but are unable to get away from a caracal!
Roundtime: 4 secs.
HR>
You feel an itching sensation around your left leg, and right arm.
You feel slightly better.
HR>
A caracal scents the air and looks from side to side, head lowered and haunches tense.
HR>
Appearing to have lost sight of its target, a caracal stops advancing.

HR>
A caracal scents the air and looks from side to side, head lowered and haunches tense.
HR>
A caracal runs madly in circles in a vain attempt to capture its stump tail.
HR>flee

You come out of hiding.
All that running from the guard may pay off! You turn northeast to make your getaway!
>* A caracal digs in its foreclaws, pivoting to kick-slash a hindclaw at you. You barely block with a gargoyle-hide shield.

The claw lands a hard hit that scratches the right hamstring in a light blow barely worth mentioning.
[You're hurt, solidly balanced with opponent in better position.]

(oh crap, he thinks, apparently flee sucks! time to go back to the old ways!)

>khri silence

It's all a blur!

(lovely!)

>* A caracal tenses, springs, and swipes at you. You attempt to dodge.

The claw lands a hard hit that shreds away skin and exposes the muscles of the abdomen, barely stunning you.
[You're tired, beat up, very badly balanced with opponent dominating.]
S!>* A caracal digs in its foreclaws, pivoting to kick-slash a hindclaw at you. You attempt to evade.

The claw lands a heavy strike that cuts deeply into the small of the back as you struggle to regain balance.
[You're tired, badly hurt, extremely imbalanced with opponent overwhelming you.]
S!>
Your attempt to flee has failed. Can't run or hide, eh?!

(I could have hidden if it wasn't for flee... amazing)

S!>
A caracal begins to advance on you!
The caracal advances from nearby and is closing steadily.

!>* A caracal pounces, raking its hindclaws at you. You attempt to dodge.

The claw lands a very heavy hit that tears flesh and cartilage as the right leg is ripped clean below the knee (Better order that peg leg!) as you falter slightly.
[You're winded, near death, extremely imbalanced with opponent overwhelming you.]
!>khri silence
* A caracal pounces, raking its hindclaws at you. You attempt to dodge.

The claw lands a massive strike that explodes the heart and lungs with a bone-shattering blow to the chest.
The caracal bats playfully at your stiffening corpse.
Your death cry echoes in your brain as it quickly dawns on you that you have just died! Already, you feel the tug of eternity upon your spirit and you struggle to remain tied to this world.

Agreed. Wouldn't want one of those stinky thieves to actually get away.

I hate it when the aliens make you type against your will. Time for a new tin hat!

Do you have 225+ escaping? If not from all the posts from Ssra you won't be successful and will just end up suffering the penalty.

Besides, aren't you supposed to use the khri before you start the flee attempt? And, even then, all it will do is reduce the time you need to spend fleeing...

Well I can flee from them when I'm not stunned, Thilan, that's not the point. The point is it brought me out of hiding and made me otherwise incapable of saving my ass, which seems counter-productive to me.

To Kyn - I wasn't attempting to use khri to FLEE ANY FASTER. At that point, it occurred to me that the situation might indeed be going down hill and I was kicking it into panic mode. The point was that using flee got me jacked because I wanted to see if I could use it when I couldn't retreat from hiding.

Otherwise, great update. I look forward to the stealing update to be as rewarding and utilizeable as this.

Oh and Ssra - for the 100th thief ability, I'm thinking you make it so we can use FLEE to run to other provinces. Unless of course we actually need to, then it should fail.

Uh, why not just use silence, unhide, and retreat like normal if you're going to go rest anyway?

And dont forget Ssra said that it WAS tailored towards younger characters as well. Using it efficiently at high levels is alot more difficult, not to mention risky.
