Does charisma play a significant role in any empath related abilities?

I'm told it helps a good deal with shifting...but I'm not interested in that really. I'm more interested in whether or not it will help me be a better empath as far as healing others and/or healing myself goes.

Thanks.

It seems to help with manipulation and Guardian Spirit, and with teaching. I'm not sure what it does with healing.

I'm going to assume that it helps manipulate a given creature whilst using less Concentration.

And for teaching it helps them learn better...

How does it help with GS?

Also helps the TEACHER learn better, by a non-insignificant amount. They're learning better, so you're teaching better, so you're learning better. It's a happy circle!

As for the GS, it supposedly helps determine the strength of the GS you summon -- I haven't tested this myself, though.

I'm pretty sure that's incorrect. I seem to remember testing manipulate with a different Empath who had much less charisma than me, and the concentration cost being the same.

On the Charisma-GS-Attack thing... my GS never attacked anything the last time I went and tried, with 60 charisma.

Charisma is cool!

Charisma power!

I know it helps with spellcasting...not sure how much that'll affect Empaths, since most of the spells we cast are for us...wonder if it helps with HL/NB.

They love it too...it's so tempting to go and spend ALL MY MONEY there. And it's a University Starbucks...so that means we have to pay a premium for the Starbucks name, so things are almost double the cost of a normal Starbucks. ::sad::

Definitely NOT a myth. I just can't seem to figure out how to make it happen again. I'm not totally convinced that it's a charisma issue, but then again, I'm not convinced that it isn't, either!!

Yep, we old farts just made it up to confuse and enrage you guys.

I'm skeptical that charisma is the main factor because Miki's was rather low at the time (and still is..been pumping everything into stamina and discipline).

I'd venture to say combat skills are a factor but I highly doubt that too. Maybe it's just sheer luck and randomness.

Does it matter which GS you have called to help? I thought that some fight and some don't...could that be a factor?

Yeah, after having Zephyr I doubt I would dare to sit down and eat half a dozen fresh glazed donuts again.

back on topic:
I tried it with the avenger and I would have thought that out of them all the avenger would be the one to attack.

For the record, I hate Krispy Kremes...they have an odd greasy aftertaste that just sits on my tongue.

I also think it has to do with combat skills factoring into it somehow, but with some charisma tied to it.
Which GS has the bashing shield? Is it alfar? Anyway, whichever one has the black spiky shield...it has sometimes attacked the rock troll I would be playing with. I don't pay close enough attention but I believe that several times, I was either in melee or going to melee with a rock troll and wanted to retreat. In the course of retreating, which I have problems doing often, I would cast GS to help out. When it would show up as I was retreating (but at same time the rock troll was advancing to me again), I would summon the GS to guard me but it would instead advance rock troll and fight it. But it didn't always happen that way. And you know what? Rock trolls take forever to die. ::scowl::

I've tried that too....maybe it's a glitch? lol I give up trying to figure it out. Maybe the GS ought to just have an attack command? Maybe the attack command doesn't always work but at least we know that it isn't a glitch or some myth...

I've had a guardian attack a trollkin, but that's been awhile ago and I forget what my stats were. Charisma wouldn't have been any higher than 25 though...if that matters...

So Guardians will attack too...if it's a certain time of the year and the moons are out and aligned just right and there's no clouds in the sky and you don't have any wounds whatsoever and then MAYBE...only if it feels like it.

If someone were to find out a sure-fire formula to get GS's to attack...there's be some really happy empaths about.

It's the guardian, and I've heard that they will attack, but I've not had one do it yet. The avenger is what I had that killed the cougar. And I'm still trying to figure out what triggers them to attack, but so far I've had no luck. Of course, I still haven't gotten Fred to come back either. I am convinced that it's just specifically her that kills things. :P

Oh, and on the topic of doughnuts, I love Krispy Kreme but Dunkin' Donuts serves way better coffee. Way.

Probably a bit late to this thread, but I've been trying for two days to see if I could get any of my GSs to attack. No luck yet. I know I've had one on an occasion or two attack things.. As I rarely ever bring a GS into combat with me, I wouldn't even know where to start in searching my logs. I may be wrong, but if my memory serves, the only times I remember mine doing this is when something advanced it (or me) and it couldn't retreat from the critter for whatever reason. Which in that case it would be hit, and make a lot of scary noises back at it (hee!) or fight back.
I should have some free time in the next few days and I'll throw myself back into trying to figure it out.

On a side note, there is a Krispy Kreme a few blocks from my house.. Oh how I try to avoid it when the sign is flashing. That smell is intoxicating!

getting a GS to attack is simple... it has to be damaged by an attack... then it goes into a murderous frenzy which lasts until it kills the creature... this usually resolves itself in one of two ways..

scenerio A)
leucro gets a lucky hit on GS. GS advances and kills leucro, then goes back to the ho hum job of guarding.

scenerio B)
Pecc lands a hit on GS. GS advances, Pecc wails on it until the GS dies (usually 2 hits), empath is out a GS and swears off the spell because of it's inability to adapt to a situation
