So, ever since I was a little bitty newbler there has been a story about blade spiders. If you go there, you die. Now I know they arn't the strongest critter in the game, but they always had the big mean baddie rep for me at least. Well:
A dark crystalline spike crackles with shimmering light and discharges an undulating blast at a giant blade spider!
Its abdomen sparks for a moment and then explodes messily. It's a wonder there's anything left of it.
A giant blade spider topples over. Its legs flail in wild panic as it writhes in the final throes of death!
The crystalline spike splits asunder.
You get a dark blue skinning knife from inside your ruby red bag.
You kneel down upon the ground.
You skillfully peel the blade spider mandible off a giant blade spider.

Killing them isn't the problem. It does not seem to matter how much skill you have, however, if they do the poison-you thing. When that happens, your only course of action is to run away and become invisible before you are paralyzed for an absurd amount of time.
I have not personally gone there for more than a few minutes at a time in likely years, so things could be different or it could all be an elaborate misconception perpetuated by the ignorant masses, but I seem to remember Fengreve getting killed by them at one time, which should never happen with such a low level creature against a Ranger who was I believe already well beyond 100th by then.
