I'm just curious, but do the different shield types have a significant effect on combat for our class? I don't know exactly how many different names there are for the types of shields we have, but I do know that the hinderance level of certain ones varies by some margin. What would typically be suggested for a circle 20 paladin to use as a shield?

theren tower shield... or ironwood bucklar if your gona hunt something like gargs

I bought a pair of those sable iron shields from ratha, cause I like em

Only non-paladins really need to worry about small v.s large shields. if your a paladin go large

I'd use a kite shield from Theren if hinderance is an issue for you, Tower Shield if it's not.

I've used a theren tower shield ever since I picked it back up a couple of years ago. Bugger hardly is ever damaged and only costs 5 gold if I remember correctly.

For storebought and most merchant/quest/fest shields, theren tower shield is the best way to go. I actually dropped a couple of those (and some other assorted armor) on the inner rack in Crossings last night, doubt they are still there though.

I'm a Gnome, so hinderance of course is an issue for me. I currently use "a plain ironwood kite shield branded with image of a fierce shark." It's from Aesry, and I love it. It's ironwood, so it is definetly sturdy. Lots of neat shields on that island (Tower shields I think, kite shields, etc. Lots of variet)
