I've been trying to get a raccoon for about a week now, and I can't figure out why it's not happening. I follow all the steps (rub corn, put on ground, hide [using EM I might add], and wait) but all I get is the "rustling leaves" and "sense something nearby" messages. I meet all of the min reqs for getting one, I'm l4th, Wisdom, Intelligence and Discipline add up to 45, hiding is 51, and my Perception and Scouting add up to 75. Anyone know what might help me figure this out?

Forget rubbing the corn, old myth. Try hiding without EM. Oh, if you've been gone for a long time, and just returned. Dump all your old corn, and forage some new. Last idea, try a couple different rooms. I don't think I've waited for more than 15 minutes in the correct spots. When the baby shows up, approach then "signal raccoon to jump". :Mutters about the damn hawks.:

I tried getting all new corn, not using EM, not rubbing the corn...and still nothing. I'm at the spot now, and have been waiting for about 25 mins with only the rustling, sniffing, and those sorts of messages. I'm at my wits end with this and its driving me crazy (okay, not really, but it is very frustrating). Thanks for trying to help, but I'm about ready to give up.
oh, and on a side note...did I mention I have no debt and my bonus is intact?

My first raccoon I got, I got after trying 4 times to get one, and waiting for like an hour each time. Finally got one though after all that waiting.
The others have posted very good ideas and please check out the boards in all the provences you have ever been in to see if you are wanted. Remember, Langen is now in the justice system as I found after blowing a box in a room where someone was hidden (and when I found out who it was that was hidden, I would have had no chance of finding said person even if I had checked).
Memories can be faulty so you might want to actually check each wanted board.
Hope that helps. And if after all that, you are still not getting one, remember my trial by raccoon. By the way, all the other raccoons I ever got, I only had to wait a few minutes at most.

<<I thought i heard that the more companions you've lost the longer it takes to get the next one, seeing Zinacas story reminded me of that, true or not? I can't say for sure.>>
I don't know for sure, but I tend to think it isn't true. First, my first ever raccoon took me, as I said, about an hour of waiting and that after trying 4 times. Second, I have lost litters---seriously and yet the next time I got a raccoon, it was only minutes (after the first one, obviously).
Also, the same doesn't hold up in wolves either. I have also lost litters of them too...someday, we should have a scavenger hunt on the barges and scoop up all those lost wolves and raccoons. But each time I get one in wolves, again, I only have to wait minutes if that long. The only time I had a problem was when I forgot I was wanted in Therengia and the wolves were growling at me. : (
That's my experience anyways. Maybe J'Lo can weigh in. She seems to know the ins and outs of the game really well.
Zinaca and Lucky 4, still growing and hasn't left yet Yippee!
