A Warrior Mage has primary focusses. Some of these are combat related. Some are magic related, as you already know. But easily it seems you forget that lore also plays a large part in our training. Saying that it doesn't, would be a lie. Mage is half the title too. And mages, in my eyes, are scholarly. And no, I don't think many of our Guild's members will be as "scholarly" in the sense of Moon Mages. But we do have that streak regardless.

After all, there is a lore skillset required BY THE GUILD for us to train. It is a necessity of practice as a Warrior Mage. Some of us tend more towards combat related affiliations, and others towards magic -- both have backgrounds in lore. If you have neglected this skillset, it seems that you are going to need to refocus some of your lore efforts. Rightfully so in this instance.

Please consider that Valdrik sort of mentioned that scholarship might be needed to study something for enchantment. For example, perhaps some sort of pattern that would need to be copied over/weaved with magic. This is fitting, and I've yet to hear an argument for why it wouldn't be.

Scholarship will hold sway over at least one facet of the system.

Yes, I think weapon skills should play some small role -- as I said, knowing the handle from the blade of the sword is always good. But once you have the basic skills to know the physical merits of a weapon, there the use of weapon skills in this system should end. We are ENCHANTING, after all, not actually forging these blades ourselves (unless we choose too).

Wouldn't knowing how to use a weapon better allow you to enchant it better?

I would think that with an increased knowledge of a weapon, you'd be able to maximize the efficiency of the enchantment.

Little example:

Mage with 100 LE and lots of lore: Look at me newly enchanted blade, Mage2!
Mage 2 with 200 LE and ok amount of lore: The enchanting is well done, but if you keep proper form when slicing, only part of the enchantment will come into use with a solid hit. You should've placed more of the focus on this part of the blade to maximize effectiveness.

Yeah I'm probably making a lot of assumptions on how the system will work. And that brings up another point. At this point almost any skill can be justified in the use of enchanting, since we have no clear idea on how WM enchanting works within the boundaries of Elanthia. So maybe it's not so much of a question of "will these skills make sense?" and one of "do I want these skills in the system?"

Actually Meanne, no I won't have to refocus on any "neglected" skillset. I don't feel we should need it and as such I won't be working it any harder than usual. I will continue upholding what I believe to be the War Mages primary focus.. war and combat with a sprinkling of magic just to make it interesting. I do however, appreciate your viewpoint though.

That's a very interesting suggestion, Dandon. And one I hope will factor in :)
