I have asked in game several times and can not seem to get a straight answer regarding WM armor hinderance. For a chain mix user (LP shirt, greaves/HP gloves helm) carrying a small shield at how many ranks and to what extent can hinderance be trained down without using YS.
Currently, I am lightly hindered whether I have a shield on or not. Is this as low as chain can be trained down?
Thanks in advance.

Possibly. Mixing plate and chain gives WMs a substantial armor penalty. I know from using a forged HP helm and forged HC shirt/gloves/greaves that I can just barely get down to lightly hindered if I cast a capped YS - but no more and that is at 220 or so armor ranks. In all heavy chain I don't even need YS to hit lightly.

Huh? You say chain, then tell us you're wearing plate. Either way, I don't think you're mixing chain and plate, but you might want to clarify yourself before anyone will be able to help out extensively, though JUASON did give some good indications of where they sit individually. The hinderance will also depend on the individual item. Forged items especially can vary quite a bit on their hinderance.

Leather down to insignificant.
Light chain down to insignificant.
No penalty for mixing light and heavy chain and no penalty for mixing cloth and leather.
No other information availible on lower end hinderance.
Any and all Non-Paladin guild mixing plate with Any other armor gets a significant penalty...???numbers unknown???

I don't know the answer to your question because I've always mixed plate in, but for some reason I recall armor hindrance decreasing until about 180.
Your question is not really WM specific, so you might try asking it in the general combat folder.
And for some unsolicited advice... Using YS is really a good call. I get insig with a 4 metal armor setup with HP on my torso. And backtraining armors is really easy, there's virtually no reason NOT to wear plate as a WM.
