I've just returned to the Lands after an 8+ year hiatus and am having a little trouble finding information on how to disarm traps these days. Back in my day we used whatever was laying around on the ground and didn't have any fancy tools. If you couldn't tell I did finally find and purchase a tool kit from the Locksmith, but it seems as if there are still some traps I can't disarm. What else do I need? Another Rogue mentioned I needed a dagger for some traps (I assume my skinning knife will suffice as it is really a modified dagger). Is there anything else I need to carry around?

Some of the crystal traps require you to use a lockpick to disarm. The dagger is for scales traps, which you disarm after picking them. Everything else can be disarmed with the implements in your toolkit. If you take up lockmastery, you'll be able to create wedges and remove vial traps to help with plated boxes.

Something to know about toolkits is that when they run out, you can buy a new toolkit and bundle them to fill up your old one (if you want to keep the old one), so you don't have to throw them away when you run out of something.
So you can get a fancy one or get one altered or whatnot.
Also, you may not know about the DETECT verb - which works like disarm for finding traps, but it'll never try to actually disarm the box, so you can be sure of not checking a box for traps and setting one off.
Also, there's a bigger variety of 'kill everybody in the room' traps, more legal penalties, and also some scarabs are really, really nasty now.
