Is it just me, or does anyone else see this as a bit of a waste of a spell slot? Not much of a difference between this and 116, which we also have access to...I guess if you don't wanna learn spirit spells it's a decent 116 substitution? But what do we really need 116 or 1217 for?

Another thing I just thought of, isn't this the EXACT same thing as symbol of sight?? So now I'll 3 different spells that all do the same thing??

Prolly for the same reason my sorcerer will have 4 different travel "spells" when he finally gets around to learning 130 (740, 130, Symbol of Return, and Symbol of Seeking)...

Does Symbol of Sight allow us to watch a target now like it says in the spell description for 1217, which I assume is similar to the way the empath spell Cry for Help works on the target's end? I haven't used it since the symbols were updated.

Symbol of Sight has always allowed a Voln member to 'watch' the target for a short time -- I believe 1 second per rank. A key difference, Voln members can only 'Sight' other Voln members.

Ah, ok... I generally use 116 since I rarely know if the person I'm looking for is in Voln or not. Still good to know though.

Its 116 that should be taken away if the duplication is to be avoided. Its an ability that naturally fits better in mental than spiritual magic.

Just imagine the fuss that would create and you should get an idea of why its designed the way it is. ;)
