Worked? REAL hard on getting a UAC weapon to go with my 8x/T5 handwraps to find out:

Regret? Wish I had put the bane and the gore on the gloves for +12 bane + 20/10 Crit Weighting
Unless then i'd half the gloves and the 'duster...right?

For clarity, here are the full rules for unarmed equipment. These rules only consider equipment that is actually used in the attack -- if a held weapon isn't a part of the unarmed attack, it isn't considered in these rules.
AS/UAF:
- Gloves and boots confer their full UAF bonus in all circumstances.
- A single held piece of equipment contributes half of its AS bonus to UAF.
- Two held pieces of equipment contribute half of the average of their AS bonus, to UAF.
Weighting:
- Weighted gloves confer their full bonus when used alone.
- Weighted gloves confer half their bonus when used with one or two held weapons.
- A single weighted weapon confers half its bonus regardless of glove usage.
- A single weighted weapon used in conjunction with a second weapon of any sort confers one quarter of its bonus regardless of glove usage (and this applies to each weapon individually -- so two weighted weapons will provide a quarter of their bonus each).
Flares and other scripted special abilities:
- Each piece of equipment has a 1-in-N chance of activating on any given attack, where N is the number of pieces of equipment used in the attack. Some aspects (such as charge depletion of a blessed weapon) happen with every attack.

I agree I see the sense in the matter. My issue is that all of these questions were asked prior to me going to RtCF with the intent of trying to get the services. I attempted to educate myself on how they work beforehand because I didn't want to be disappointed after the fact.
Here is a case where I asked, no answer, I get disappointed, and then I get an answer after the fact. Having this exact information is perfect and would have changed how I planned my RtCF wins if it was provided when the system was rolled out or when I asked for it specifically before any services were spent in my planning phase.
Happy I understand but bummed knowing I would have done things much differently if I knew the rules beforehand.

>> For the record, I think this is entirelyfair. No sense in letting us have three different ways of boosting (weapon, weapon, gloves) when the rest of the world gets one. The averagingmakes it even.
Well, it's a bit counterintuitive. I've leveled a UAC brawler up near 30, and I'm generally pretty numbers-conscious, and I hadn't realized exactly how crappy holding weapons is until now. Most of the time, for UAC, a standard, off-the-shelf, compatible weapon is near to useless. The best comparison that comes to mind here is armor accessories. Unless you have some specific reason to be wearing those leg greaves, don't assume that they are actually helping your general defense at all. In fact, they might just be hindering you.
On the other hand, very expensive high-enchant weapons will cash out to higher endrolls, because they balance out the MM penalties. So that's something, for the wealthy anyway.

Its called unarmed combat. Intuitive would have been no benefits from weapons at all. Counter intuitive is the benefits that occur in some situations with weapons, not the penalties that occur in others.
Its been said all along that unless you've got a pretty good reason to be holding a weapon you are going to be worse off, and that thats the way its meant to be.

Considering the ephemeral nature of these forums, and bearing in mind that there is zero information on the play.net website about UAC, what has "been said all along" is pretty useless.

Unless someone has saved it somewhere ...
"In general, you'll be better off without held weapons." from a Finros post saved on Krakiipedia. http://www.krakiipedia.org/wiki/Unarmed_combat_(saved_post)

In general doesn't mean, "any held UAC weapon will be halved in weighting unless you hold two and then your weighting is quartered"
That was the specific question I asked on 3 boards a month before RtCF because I wanted the exact answer he gave after I finished spending tens of millions of silvers and it's too late to change my mind. I do hope that all the time I was waiting for a UAC weapon answer he was working very hard on something else, thrown weapons for perhaps.

Rolfard,
One thing to keep in mind about all of this, you might actually own of the few weapons that provides significant mechanical advantage when held and using UAC. It was a knuckle duster I believe you said, which grants you .05 DF at a penalty of -10MM according to krakii. Exceptional+ crit weighting on top of that I would hope is very noticable on a routine hunt. I'm glad you had such an awesome brawler made personally, though I feel for you in that you're only really benefitting from a +16 weighted when you went to the effort of making a +32.

Yes, my apologies for neglecting the forums. I've been caught up with other game commitments, and until your question came to me (via another staff member), answering posts had become very low priority for me. Don't hesitate to post multiple times in the future if you feel that your question is being ignored; it is more likely to catch my attention that way when I've missed the first ones.
With regard to unarmed combat, it is always* better to apply an effect to gloves or boots, rather than a held weapon, whenever you have the choice. Held weapons are meant to be the inferior option, and are mainly allowed because of past statements that they would be allowed. If I were doing it again, I would probably choose to not use them in unarmed combat at all. They're only meant to be beneficial if you have an already-existing held weapon with some sort of superior effect.

And I really appreciate you coming here and posting a dozen posts since this has come to a head. At least its 100 percent clear to me and others now!
I am also sincerely curious what other avenues you've been working on since it's obvious you have some strong skills in coding combat!
x-fingers for thrown weapons revamp.

I'm afraid that this one is an "internal" project so to speak, that players won't see directly -- but in time, it should yield rich results indirectly. Once that's finished, I'm eager to get back to a project or two that I hope will be well appreciated. Not thrown, however.
